Rosanna is a Lincolnshire-based journalist and author who will be talking about her latest book Feisty Females, short stories inspired by The Great Cowcher Book, a medieval manuscript. The book tells the stories of some of Lincolnshire's most fascinating medieval women including Nicholaa de la Haye, Alice de Lacy and Gwenllian, the last Princess of Wales.
"How did medieval nuns blow their noses? What happened to medieval lepers and why would a Welsh princess be locked up in a remote Lincolnshire priory for 52 years? If you’d like to learn more, this is the talk for you! Historical fiction is the hybrid child of two warring parents: fact and fiction. What are the challenges of writing historical fiction and where do you begin? Is it ever acceptable to tweak the truth? As a member of The Society of Authors writer and a journalist, I talk through possible research pathways and discuss how to find the story from the resulting material. Feisty Females, is a book of short stories featuring some of Lincolnshire’s most iconic women including Nicholaa de la Haye, Alice de Lacy and Hawise de Quincy."
